Our national advocacy campaign, Australia Runs on Natural Gas, continues to reach millions of Australians each week, highlighting the industry’s significant contribution to the economy, tax revenue and Australia’s energy security.
Since 1 July, the campaign has reached almost 12 million people on social media across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. The campaign is also running nationally across digital, Sky News, radio and outdoor advertising.
Last month, we launched a refreshed campaign website to better reinforce the campaign's messages and counter misinformation. The new-look website features interactive content highlighting the industry’s contribution by state and territory, alongside expanded myth-busting and Frequently Asked Questions sections.
The website is an important destination for audiences engaging with our advertising, attracting more than 130,000 visits from social media ads since 1 July.
Territory focus
The campaign will have a prominent presence in Darwin this week to coincide with NT Resources Week and the South East Asia Australia Offshore & Onshore Conference (SEAAOC).
Activity included advertising at Darwin Airport, digital outdoor displays on high-traffic roads, geo-targeted social media advertising, a full-page advertisement and homepage takeover in the NT News, as well as opinion pieces in the NT News and Resources Territory.
Campaign maintains strong presence in Canberra
The campaign continues to have a strong presence in Canberra during Parliamentary sitting weeks, highlighting the industry’s significant tax and economic contribution. This activity is particularly important as the industry responds to renewed calls for a 25 per cent tax on gas exports.
As part of our broader engagement strategy, last month we sent the first of monthly campaign e-updates to federal MPs in 38 key marginal seats outlining the campaign’s key messages, reach and activity in their communities. These regular updates help ensure the campaign remains visible to key politicians.
Victorian election campaign highlights public support for more gas
Our Victorian election campaign is highlighting strong community support for developing more of Victoria’s natural gas resources and retaining consumer choice over gas appliances in Victorian homes.
The campaign has been seen by millions of Victorians on social media since launching five weeks ago, and our ads are now taking people to a Victorian landing page on the campaign site. Additional state and territory content will be progressively added to provide audiences with more localised information on the industry’s contribution in their communities.
The campaign will soon enter its next phase with new creative aimed at community engagement and activation, which will run on social, digital, audio and outdoor advertising.
