Australia Runs on Natural Gas campaign builds momentum

Written by Australian Energy Producers | 06 October 2026

The Australia Runs on Natural Gas campaign continues to expand its national reach, combining high-profile advertising, political engagement and targeted state activity to strengthen public understanding of the industry’s economic and energy contribution.

The campaign recently featured prominently at The Australian’s Energy Nation Forum, held in Sydney on 23 September. Activity included a gloss wrap of The Australian, advertorials, an opinion piece, digital advertising and sponsored content across News Corp websites as part of our sponsorship.

This built on the campaign’s strong presence in Canberra, which includes a recently-updated billboard outside Canberra Airport highlighting the industry’s significant tax contribution.

The campaign’s series of myth-busting videos are also continuing across social media, countering misinformation about our industry’s tax contribution. The latest videos launched last week address two common myths: misleading comparisons with Norway and Qatar, and calls for a 25% export tax that ignore the impact on investment and overall taxation. Members can view and download the videos on the member portal to share with their networks.

Building visibility with decision-makers

Australian Energy Producers has sent the second in a series of monthly campaign updates to key federal MPs and senators,

The updates outline the campaign’s activity and reach within their communities, helping ensure its messages remain visible to key decision-makers and supporting the industry’s broader advocacy priorities.

Victorian campaign generates strong engagement

Our advertising campaign for the Victorian election is building momentum ahead of the 28 November election.

More than 3,000 Victorians have responded to the campaign’s online poll, with around 90% supporting the development of more of Victoria’s natural gas resources to strengthen local supply and continued household choice over gas use.

Campaign content has now been seen more than one million times and generated more than 34,000 clicks to the dedicated Victorian campaign page.

The campaign will continue highlighting the importance of natural gas to Victoria’s energy security, households and economy, and encourage community engagement and activation.
